UEFA Europa League – Matchday No 2

Gameweek No 2 in the UEFA Europa League is on schedule tonight. We will have a chance to enjoy some fantastic affairs along the way as Real Sociedad take on Monaco, Celtic host Bayer Leverkusen, while Marseille battle Galatasaray.

As many as 16 matches are on the menu. We will cover eight of the most exciting ones in this second round preview to help you make better decisions before placing your bets.   • They have won two and lost one of the following three domestic matches since (a win and a defeat in the league and a win in the cup)
  • Legia are struggling badly in the Polish Ekstraklasa this season
  • They lost three of the last four domestic league games and currently sit fourth from bottom (15th out of 18 teams)
  • Legia did not keep a clean sheet in four subsequent Ekstraklasa games

  • Leicester were held by Napoli to a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the Europa League campaign
  • They are also conceding goals with ease this season
  • The Foxes allowed 10 goals in 6 Premier League games
  • They conceded two or more goals in each of the last three matches in all competitions (excluding the League Cup win over lower-division Millwall)

  • Lyon saw off Rangers 0-2 away in Glasgow in the first round
  • They are unbeaten at home this season (two wins and three draws in five league games at Groupama Stadium)
  • All of Lyon’s five home matches have seen goals scored at both ends this season
  • Lyon bagged three goals in three of the last four home games in Ligue 1
  • Lyon scored 13 and conceded 12 goals in 8 Ligue 1 outings this term
  • Karl Toko Ekambi scored one of Lyon’s two goals away at Rangers on the opening day
  • He should have plenty of space to deliver in what should be a high-scoring contest here against Brondby

 

  • Brondby played a goalless draw to Sparta Prague at home in the first round  
  • They are not doing very well in the domestic league where they won just 2 of the opening 10 games of the season
  • Briondby scored 13 and shipped 14 goals in the opening 10 rounds in Superligaen
  • Brondby are winless on the road this season (three draws and two defeats in five league matches away from home)
  • Brondby conceded at least two goals in three of the last four away outings in Superligaen
  • They kept just one clean sheet this season in the domestic league (in 10 games)

18:45 – Real Sociedad vs Monaco

  • Real Sociedad played a 2-2 draw away at PSV on the opening day
  • Since then, they have won two and drawn one of the following three La Liga matches
  • Sociedad currently hold the second place in Spanish La Liga standings with 5 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss
  • They conceded only 6 goals in 7 league matches this season
  • They are yet to concede at home this season (four league matches – four clean sheets)
  • Only three goals were scored in total in Sociedad’s four home fixtures in La Liga this season

 

  • Monaco dispatched Sturm Graz 1-0 at home in the first round of the Europa League

  • They will come into this on the back of two consecutive 3-1 wins (over Saint-Etienne and Clermont)
  • Monaco did not keep a single clean sheet in the last five away matches in all competitions
  • Each of the last four games they played on the road saw the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score option coming in

18:45 – Napoli vs Spartak Moscow

  • Napoli drew 2-2 at Leicester City in the first round   
  • They are flying high at the start of the new Serie A season
  • They boast a perfect Serie A record with six wins in six matches (16-2 goal difference) this season
  • They scored ten goals without conceding a single in the last three league matches
  • They have scored at least two goals in all seven matches in all competitions this season
  • Victor Osimhen is the man to keep an eye on
  • He bagged both of the team’s goals in the 2-2 draw at Leicester City in Europa League
  • He is also Napoli’s top scorer in Serie A with four goals to his name

 

  • Spartak Moscow fell 0-1 at home to Legia at the start of the Europa League  
  • They are not doing very well in the domestic league either
  • Spartak occupy the 8th place in the Russian Premier League standings with four defeats in nine rounds
  • Spartak have a poor away record (three losses, one draw, and one win in five games) this season in all competitions
  • They scored only two goals in five away matches in all competitions this season

21:00 – Celtic vs Bayer Leverkusen

  • Celtic fell 4-3 away at Real Betis on the opening day, dropping a two-goal advantage on the occasion
  • They are miles away from the best form at the moment, having won just one of the last four Premiership games
  • However, Celtic have played much better at home so far in the season
  • The Bhoys won seven and drew one of the last eight home matches in all competitions
  • They kept six clean sheets in these eight affairs
  • However, the opposition did come in the likes of Dundee, Jablonec, Hearts, AZ, St. Mirren, Ross County, Raith Rovers, and Dundee United in the process
  • Bayer Leverkusen are much stronger than each of these teams and Celtic could genuinely struggle to perform here

 

  • Bayer Leverkusen survived a tough Ferencvaros test, beating them 2-1 after a comeback on the opening day   
  • They will travel to Glasgow in high spirits following a run of five wins in the last six matches in all competitions
  • Bayer currently hold the second place in the Bundesliga standings
  • They have scored 16 goals in 6 Bundesliga matches so far in the season
  • Bayer bagged seven goals in the last two away wins over Augsburg and Stuttgart
  • All four of Bayer’s games this season on the road saw goals scored at both ends
  • Young midfielder Florian Wirtz is the team’s joint-top scorer in Bundesliga (four goals in six games) and he also scored in the Europa League opener against Ferencvaros two weeks ago

21:00 – Lazio vs Lokomotiv Moscow

  • They dropped in form lately in general, but managed to bounce back beating Roma 3-2 in the weekend’s Derby della Capitale
  • Lazio are still giving away way too many chances for their rivals
  • They have not kept a single clean sheet since the start of the season
  • They conceded two goals in three of the last four league outings
  • All of their three home matches this season saw the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score option coming in
  • Although they won two and drew one of three home fixtures in Serie A this season, Lazio have shipped five goals in the process
  • Ciro Immobile is their top scorer with six goals to his name

 

  • Lokomotiv Moscow somehow pulled off a 1-1 draw at home to Marseille on the opening day    
  • They had ten men on the pitch when they scored the late 89th-minute equalizer
  • Loko are unbeaten after nine rounds of the Russian Premier League (four wins and five draws)
  • They have conceded only 6 goals in 9 league games this season
  • They will travel to Italian capital off the back of two successive goalless draws (to Ural and Khimki)
  • Lokomotiv Moscow drew in all of their last four away matches in the Premier League (two times 1-1 and two times 0-0)

21:00 – Marseille vs Galatasaray

  • Marseille were held by ten-man Lokomotiv Moscow to a 1-1 draw away in Russia on the opening day   
  • They currently hold the third place in the Ligue 1 standings with four wins, two draws, and one defeat in seven rounds
  • That one defeat came just at the weekend when Marseille fell 2-3 at home to Lens
  • Marseille have scored 14 goals in 7 Ligue 1 games this season
  • They have scored at least two goals in each of four home matches this term
  • Three of four games they played at home so far in the season saw the Over 2.5 goals FT & Both Teams To Score option landing
  • Dimitri Payet is their top scorer with 5 goals in 7 Ligue 1 games (and he is on penalties)

 

  • Galatasaray stunned Lazio 1-0 at home in the first round of the Europa League    
  • They have, however, not been enjoying the best form in Turkish Super Lig

  • Galatasaray are winless in the last four away games in all competitions
  • They have conceded at least two goals in each of the last three away matches in Super Lig (against Kasimpasa, Trabzonspor, and Kayserispor)

21:00 – West Ham vs Rapid Vienna

  • West Ham eased past Dinamo Zagreb 0-2 on the road on the opening day  
  • They also returned to the winning ways in the Premier League as well, courtesy of Michail Antonio’s late goal in a 1-2 win at Leeds United on Saturday
  • West Ham are 7th in the Premier League standings with three wins, two draws, and one loss in the opening six rounds
  • They have scored 13 goals in 6 games so far in the season
  • Over 2.5 goals FT& Both Teams To Score pick has landed in each of West Ham’s three home games this season in the Premier League
  • Michail Antonio has been fantastic so far in the season, netting five goals in five Premier League appearances

  • Rapid Vienna lost 0-1 at home to Genk in the first round
  • They have been on a dreadful run of form lately
  • Rapid lost three matches on the bounce in the Austrian Bundesliga
  • They sit second from bottom with five defeats in the opening nine rounds in the Austrian Bundesliga
  • They have conceded seven goals in the last three league defeats, including three in the weekend’s home loss to Sturm Graz (0-3)
